To distract from the onwards gallop of the four horsemen, I thought I might solicit your assistance in narrowing down my options for the next project. To that end, I have assembled four small(ish) selections each of which falling into a category. I would greatly appreciate it if those of you who find your interest sufficiently stirred, could venture a preference for whichever category floats your boat. You may do that by voting in the poll at the bottom of this post and/or over on Instagram where I have made a slightly more concise (as befits Instagram) duplicate of this post.

Seikomatic
Diver
Grand Seiko
King Seiko

Adventures in Amateur Watch Fettling 
I’ve made my choice, but I do wish there was a fifth option for BellMatics.
That’s a good observation as I have one beautiful 4005 and at least a couple of 4006s waiting their turn. Maybe I’ll bump them up the queue!
The Seikomatics are not as important as the other three categories. The Divers are quite important to the brand, however, they have been somewhat over done and evaluations can be readily found. The early Grand Seikos are an important genre, But, Grand Seiko’s owe their origins to the early King Seikos!
So I say King Seiko.
Grand Seiko owes its origins not to King Seiko but to Lord Marvel, the first Grand Seiko appearing a year before the first King Seiko. And Seikomatic holds a special place in my heart and I always enjoy working on them. At the time of replying to your comment Seikomatic is snapping at the heels of Grand Seiko in the Instagram poll, with King Seiko a hair behind. On the blog, Grand Seiko leads the way narrowly over Diver and Seikomatic with King Seiko a little behind. Plenty of time yet any of the front runners to emerge victorious!
Hi Martin Not surprised by the current poll results: I’m way behind with KS. I do love these as the underdogs of Seiko, esp. the 45 series speedsters. Perhaps you could do a comparison between a 36k bph KS and your top GS model to help us understand the true differences between lines.

On Instagram, it’s currently neck and neck between Grand Seiko and Seikomatic with King Seiko just behind. Plenty of time for any of them to pip the others at the post! I will certainly be making a comparison at some point between the KS45 and GS45.
All the choices are obviously desirable but my main area of interest has always been classic Seiko (and other) dive watches .
The early Seikomatics have become one of my favorite watches. I particularly like ones with only a date or no date at all. Very clean designs without the day window.
