In the grand tradition of the TV clip show, I thought I’d take advantage of a short hiatus in proceedings to indulge in a spot of reflection of projects past. I’ve been meaning for some time to compile a few before and after shots from projects where such comparisons provide sufficient contrast to be worth making. The selections that appear below therefore should not be viewed as a greatest hits compilation but merely a series of markers charting the progress of an amateur watch fettler from early fumblings in 2008 to the present. You can link to the original post in each case by clicking on the photo (with any additional links in the caption). In chronological order then, here we go:

The slippery slope (January 2009)

Ugly duckling conversions (February 2009)

Separated at birth (November 2009)

Anatomy of a vintage watch revival (March 2010)

A bridge too far (June 2011) Part 1 here and a postscript here

A do-it-yourself Seamaster 300 (August 2011)

Basket cases have more soul (April 2012)

A catalogue of errors (January 2013) Part 1 here and a postscript here

A hacking day date 6105 (June 2013)

Common denominator (September 2013)

A Seiko 6309-7040 (November to December 2013) Part 1 here and part 2 here

A little bling is no bad thing (March 2014)

What lies beneath (June to September 2014) Part 1 here and the relume here

A minor aristocrat (February 2015)

Do you sell any of your watches?
I do from time to time, but usually through watch forum sales corners rather than through the blog.
Do you service watches for other people?
I’m afraid not. This is just a hobby and I simply don’t have the time to work on watches other than my own.
Bummer. But thank you. If you ever come across a mid to late 1960’s Speedmaster that you would like to part with. Please let me know.
Cheers!

Add the champagne-dialed Sea Lion to this list!
Yes, I probably need to do an update of this one at some point 🙂
Hello, do you work on other peoples Seiko? I am looking to service my old Seiko and not sure who would do it better than you…
Hi Alex, if you read the entry under ‘About’, you will see that this is just a hobby for me and that I don’t take in work. Sorry!
